21 Oct Presentation and opening ceremony
26th OCT 10:30am. CaixaForum Seville. Camino de los Descubrimientos, corner Jerónimo Aguilar St. – 41092 Seville
In its third edition, to be celebrated between the 26th and 29th October, ARTSevilla – International Meeting of Contemporary Art, is still choosing the conviviality, the integration and the dialogue. The event looks for a connexion between the current art, the society around it and the space where it is developed.
The presentation ceremony will take place the 26th October at 10:30am in CaixaForum Seville. Moisés Roiz will introduce the ceremony. A representative of the Territorial Delegation of Culture, Paco Cerrejón, project manager of ICAS; José María Sánchez, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Seville; Eva Morales, Administrative of ARTSevilla; Marisa Vadillo, Coordinator of exhibitions of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Seville; Noelia Arrincón, member of the team of General Coordination of ARTSevilla; Alejandro Rojas, Administrative of LAB and Laura Fernández, Coordinator of the magazine ARTS III. The ceremony will conclude with the projection of Efímera, a video directed by Paco Peregrín.
During the celebration of ARTSevilla, the city turns into a neutral space where its different agents have an excuse to interact: the art. The implication of the different artistic and cultural centres in the event becomes essential in this sense. The exhibition rooms of Saint Inés, Atín Aya and Laraña, as well as Casa de la Memoria, the Chamber of Commerce and the Antiquarium, the Centre of Documentation of Scenic Arts and Caótica take in the main initiatives inscribed in this edition. A total of fifteen galleries and cultural spaces, which formed the exhibition itinerary The Guest, are involved. Also, CaixaForum Seville includes one of the sessions of the season “Meetings with…” in its programme.
ARTSevilla, which is developing different activities since the 3rd October, opens its whole programme the 26th. The opening of the spaces will start the 26th at 12:30pm with the opening of the Atín Aya’s Room and it will continue with the opening of Casa de la Memoria at 1:00pm. The official inauguration will take place in the Exhibition Room of Saint Inés at 1:30pm with the attendance of José Manuel Girela de la Fuente, the territorial representative of Culture, Tourism and Sports. The Cultural Journeys will start in the Antiquarium at 3:00pm, with talks about cultural affairs, exhibition curatorship, museography, education, research, artistic creation and undertaking, between other subjects. Finally, a welcoming cocktail will take place in the Exhibition Room of Saint Inés at 8:00pm, courtesy of Cruzcampo, Coca-Cola, Emperifollao and MPuntoR Team.
The Room of Saint Inés will take in the different universities and schools of artistic educations participating: Camberwell College of Arts of London, The Complutense University of Madrid, Advanced School of Art of Oporto, Loyola University of Andalusia and the University of Seville. At the same time, the collective of graphic design and creativity “Macho Dominante” presents a selection of illustrations of limited edition, in the context of the Andalucian Meeting of Designers organised by LAB. Finally, projects selected in the calls of ARTSevilla of Installation, Performance and Videocreation complement the programme of this space.
The Atín Aya’s Room will count thereafter on the participation of the council of Algeciras, which have made an effort to favour the visibility of women in the field of plastic arts, and the provincial government of Huelva, which includes a participative project dedicated to the meeting between two worlds: Huelva – America. The Art School León Ortega, the high school Pablo Neruda, Espacio 0 and the 13 Dadá Trouch Gallery are included in this project, adding up more than fifty artists.
As every year, the sections of Installation, Perfomance, Videocreation and Solo Projects are taking place with the exhibitions aforementioned. Solo Projects set aside to independent artists who have worked about the subject “Laberintos del S.XXI” with the idea of providing visibility to the consequences that are still marking our time in an incomprehensible way. Related to the design and the montage of this exhibition, among other sectors, we join forces with the Expositive Patrimony.
We hope count on your presence and support in the presentation ceremony and the subsequent inauguration of the event.
